Creative Director

Summary:

Envoy Chicago is looking for a Creative Director with conceptual, technical and aesthetic prowess to join us on a journey of creating never-before-seen immersive experiences at the nexus of design, storytelling, digital media, and interaction. You will report to the Executive Creative Director.

You Will:

Lead immersive design experiences of any scale: clients look to you to solve creative problems they can't, while the design team expects you to establish the parameters for their work. A Creative Director answers the what, why, and how that a team uses as a "true north" to guide all of their decision-making.

A Creative Director may not be "on-the-box" during a project but they will have an intimate knowledge of the limits and needs of a production's pipeline and workflow; they are the Producer's trusted partner in developing schedules and budgets to deliver a successful project.

Most of a Creative Director's time is spent with clients, developing pitches, and collaborating with their producer and creative team to establish the look and feel of a project. A Creative Director will be continually developing their voice and vision as an artist as they are often the most visible member of a design studio.

You Can:

  • Use design thinking and strategic research methods to shape a creative brief through client brainstorms and vision sessions. Examples include:
  • Journey Mapping
  • Narrative development
  • User Personas
  • Pitch and present creative ideas clearly to clients, as well as to members of the creative team.
  • Develop concepts for media rich physical spaces such as lobby installations, trade events, briefing centers, or museum exhibitory
  • Direct Storyboards + Styleframes: A strong understanding of immersive storytelling techniques allows you to develop styleframes for pitching as well as generating imagery from scratch in various styles.
  • Design for interactivity: Understand the principles of UX/UI design for interactive and screen-based media.
  • Collaborate effectively with the production team on determining budget, project plan, schedule, and how to best manage a project from bid to final render.
  • Apply brand identity systems, typography, photography, color, and other visual elements appropriately to create innovative solutions to client needs
  • Mentor and support the growth of designers to develop in their skills
  • Maintain management and supervision of concurrent design projects/timelines and assigned hours

  • Advanced Motion Workflow / Advanced Interactive Workflow: As a Creative Director with a strong focus on design, strengthening your understanding of production workflows will help you understand the requirements and capabilities of your production team, allowing you to better understand how to take advantage of 3D or Real-time tools in your pitch and design work.
