Sr. Director, Business Development

Summary:

As the Sr. Director of Business Development, you will report to the Chief Growth Officer to develop partnerships and uncover new prospects. You will support new business development and thought leadership across Envoy's three offices in San Diego, Irvine, and Chicago.

You will have a passion for new business, the ability to decipher a brief and lead a team among multiple disciplines. You will have a keen interest in thought leadership and will help support the agency's initiatives. You are strategic in your approach and not afraid to get in the trenches and do what it takes to win. Necessary to this role is the ability to articulate and demonstrate Envoy's capabilities, understand our challenges, and create personal relationships with new partners and with the Envoy team across all offices and levels of seniority.

You Will:

  • Manage client relationships as an important member of the agency's business development team.
  • Lead new business presentations and proposals.
  • Uncover opportunities for new opportunities/projects with existing clients and prospects.
  • Demonstrate the ability to process and understand our client's category and their brand and business goals.
  • Lead the team to develop insight-driven strategies for new business development; provide solid business justification for investments.
  • Lead pitch planning work sessions, workshops, and meetings.
  • Lead agency teams to ensure successful pitch/proposal development and handoff to our teams when business is closed
  • Help support our strategic thought leadership platform that may include C-suite round table events

You Have/Can:

  • 7+ years experience in new business development across marketing or consulting services.
  • Experience working in an agency environment across multiple clients and disciplines.
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills (particularly with KeyNote).
  • Work with and guide senior and junior-level clients and internal agency teams.
  • Knowledge across brand strategy, digital design and development, and experiential.
  • Work across multiple time zones and be willing to travel when necessary.
  • Bring in new business and clients, both organically and externally.
  • Prospect new business to meet quarterly and annual targets.
  • Experience deciphering client briefs.
  • Experience leading integrated teams in the development of multi-disciplinary pitches.
  • Experience developing strategic pitches and a winning track record.
  • Understanding of the latest digital technologies and the ability to simplify the complicated.
  • Work with all partners to develop outstanding, pitches, proposals, RFI's, and RFP's.
  • Negotiate with clients on contracts, budgets, and proposals and not afraid to have difficult conversations.
